Safe steps for any official-looking letter

  1. Keep it together. Save the envelope, every page, and any attachment.
  2. Mark dates separately. Record when it arrived, when it was issued, and each printed deadline.
  3. Verify independently. Find the agency through its official website instead of trusting only a QR code, link, number, or account printed in an unfamiliar document.
  4. Protect personal data. Do not post a full image or share resident numbers, passport details, case numbers, or payment accounts publicly.
  5. Keep a response record. Note who you spoke to, the department, date, instructions, and any receipt or filing number.

What this helper includes

Select Immigration, National Health Insurance, National Pension, Tax Office, Court, Police/Prosecutor, Labor Office, Local Government, or Unknown. The helper explains the institution, document categories the mail may relate to, Korean words to locate, where a deadline or contact may be shown, and an independently verified official contact. It does not accept uploads, perform OCR, translate a document, diagnose its legal effect, or decide how an individual must respond.

How the routing works

  1. The nine sender categories follow the MVP specification and map only to official nationwide institutions or a general government-routing channel.
  2. Each result uses cautious category language such as may relate to because an institution sends many document types and the sender category alone cannot identify an individual letter.
  3. Korean keyword lists focus on orientation: sender, document/case number, payment or submission deadline, appearance date, responsible department, and common institution-specific labels.
  4. Official contacts are recorded from the issuing institution, Government Call Center, court, police, prosecution, or public legal-aid websites and are shown so users can verify a printed number independently.
  5. All route content is pre-rendered in the page HTML. Selecting a sender only reveals the matching section in the browser and does not transmit the selection or any document information.

Assumptions

  • The user will keep the envelope and all pages, identify the sender exactly as printed, and distinguish the arrival date, issue date, covered period, hearing date, payment date, and response deadline.
  • The user will verify the institution and contact through an official domain before paying, scanning an unfamiliar QR code, opening a link, or sending passport, residence-card, banking, case, or tax details.
  • A keyword is only a navigation aid and will be read in the full sentence and document context rather than treated as a complete translation.
  • If a court, criminal, immigration, tax, labor, or payment matter appears urgent or disputed, the user will promptly contact the issuing body or appropriate qualified help.

Example

A resident sees 국민건강보험공단 on the envelope and selects National Health Insurance. The result explains that the mail may concern eligibility, contributions, payment, refund, or a record request; highlights 자격, 보험료, 납부, 체납, 고지서, and 환급; shows where to look for 납부기한 or 제출기한; and links to NHIS at 1577-1000 extension 6 and 033-811-2000. It does not claim what the individual letter means.

Limits and cautions

  • No document is uploaded, photographed, stored, OCR-processed, translated, summarized, or interpreted by Korea Life Tools. The helper works only from the sender category the user selects.
  • The page cannot confirm that a letter is genuine, identify the recipient, calculate a legal deadline, determine valid service, decide eligibility or liability, or tell the user what legal position to take.
  • Institution names, formats, departments, phone menus, language availability, branch jurisdiction, document titles, and procedures can change. Confirm the current route with the issuing body.
  • A phone call or counseling request does not automatically pause a deadline, file a response, appeal a decision, stop collection or enforcement, prove delivery, or preserve a legal claim.
  • Emergency danger, crime in progress, fire, or medical emergency should use 112 or 119 rather than an ordinary mail-help or civil-counseling route.
