Leaving Korea Checklist for Foreign Residents

What this helper includes

Use this private checklist to review final pay and severance, housing and deposit records, National Pension and health insurance, banking and phone access, tax and immigration questions, and documents to keep. You can show all 24 items or focus on one section. The tool does not assume that a refund, account closure, cancellation, or benefit applies to everyone.

How this helper works

1. The checklist contains six sections with four tasks each: job and money, housing, pension and insurance, bank and phone, tax and administration, and records to keep.
2. The focus selector hides unrelated sections without deleting completed checks. Progress is calculated only from the currently visible section or from all 24 tasks when Everything is selected.
3. Official links are attached only where a Korean public institution can verify the issue, including labor, National Pension, National Health Insurance, National Tax Service, and immigration contacts.
4. Contract-specific tasks such as housing, banking, phone service, utilities, and account access instruct the user to check the actual agreement and provider rather than applying a universal cancellation rule.

Assumptions

• The user may be leaving permanently or for an uncertain period and will confirm immigration and re-entry consequences separately.
• A checked task means the user reviewed the issue and retained evidence; it does not prove that payment, cancellation, a refund, or an official procedure is complete.
• The user will keep at least one reliable payment, authentication, and contact route until outstanding deposits, wages, refunds, bills, and notices are resolved.
• Amounts, eligibility, deadlines, documents, fees, and remote application routes will be confirmed with the institution or contract party responsible for that item.

Example

A worker leaving a rented apartment can select Job & money to review the contract, final payslip, unpaid wage records, and severance estimate. After switching to Housing, the four housing tasks appear while earlier checks remain in the browser. No checklist selections are stored or sent to analytics.

Limits and cautions

• The checklist does not determine whether final wages, unused-leave pay, severance, a pension lump-sum refund, tax refund, housing deposit, insurance adjustment, or contract refund is owed.
• National Pension lump-sum refund eligibility for a foreign subscriber can depend on nationality, a social security agreement, status of stay, insured history, departure, and other official conditions.
• Housing termination, deposit return, bank access, phone cancellation, device installments, utilities, and automatic payments depend on actual contracts and account records.
• Tax residency, year-end settlement, filing duties, deductions, refunds, and the documents needed after departure depend on the person's income and circumstances.
• Ask 1345 how departure affects your residence card, pending applications, authorized stay, and possible return. The checklist does not provide an immigration decision.
